Support fairer food labelling
For years CHOICE supporters have been campaigning for a Health Star Rating system that works, and food labels that clearly identify added sugar.
The Ministerial Forum on Food Regulation has heard our calls and shown support for added sugar labelling in the Nutrition Information Panel! What's more, they've agreed to look into the use of teaspoon images on sugar-sweetened beverages.
This is a major step towards fairer labels that help us make informed choices about the food and drinks we buy. Now that Ministers are eager to tackle sugar labelling, this is our chance to push them for a Health Star Rating system that:
- is mandatory;
- doesn’t let salty or sugary snacks receive a higher rating than they deserve;
- is free from undue industry influence.
Can you send an email to the Forum Ministers thanking them for supporting added sugar labelling and asking them to go one step further by calling for improvements to Health Star Ratings?
